ArialToday we will wrap up the subject of food allergies.
So far we have dealt with the mold and musty odor issue. We have routed those mold spores out of every possible hiding place in our homes.
We have eliminated the major mucus-causing food—dairy products.
So what is left?
First let´s review.
Asthma is an autoimmune disease that involves mucus and inflammation. We have begun to deal with the mucus problem. But what about inflammation?
First, refined sugar causes inflammation throughout the body. Our bodies were not made to deal with refined sugar. It does not grow on any bush or tree.
It comes from sugar cane, sugar beets, corn (in the form of corn syrup) and a few other things. It is refined, bleached, and presented to us in granular form.
This is another non-food item that causes the body to say “WHAT am I supposed to do with THIS?”
Although this is a huge subject, we will boil it down to a few words. We were not programmed to deal with refined sugar. Therefore it causes inflammation in our cardiovascular system, and is a major cause of heart disease. It causes inflammation in the brain and is, therefore, one cause of dementia. It causes inflammation in the joints and is, therefore, one cause (a major cause) or arthritis. And more to our subject, it causes inflammation in the lungs.
But that is not all that causes inflammation. White flour products, vegetable oils (other than unheated olive oil) and other processed ítems cause inflammation. This is one reason for our advice to buy your food in the produce section of wherever you shop rather than buying processed foods with labels on them.
If you read those labels you will usually find ingredients that you won´t even recognize—because they are not even food. They are chemicals, preservatives, flavor enhancers (that often cause food addictions and weight gain) first created in a laboratory. Your body has no means to process these things. Therefore, they are often stored as toxins in various parts of the body and many of them cause inflammation. All should be eliminated if your goal is genuine health.
The next food to consider eliminating, at least temporarily, is wheat. Wheat is a primary allergen for many people. Some people have reported improvement by eliminating ALL grains for a period of time (perhaps 30 days), and then introducing them back into the diet one by one to see if any of them cause an allergic reaction. Once the person with asthma is better, it is possible to keep adding back in one item at a time, wait a week, at least, to see what happens. If an allergic reaction occurs, then they eliminate that, wait another week and try something else.
Remember that when you eat bread, it must be from fresh ground 100% whole grain (preferably organic) flour with no chemical additives, dough conditioners, milk or eggs. You can make it yourself. The automatic bread makers are wonderful and easy to use. Or you can buy from a health food store. But be sure the flour is fresh ground. If you buy at a store—ask!
Whole wheat flour turns rancid within a week because the food value is left in it. Unnlike white flour, there is food value still left to spoil. It is that rancidity that causes some people to think they don´t like whole wheat bread. So make sure your bread is made from fresh ground wheat—and then keep it refrigerated.
White flour will almost never spoil. That lets you know it is not a live food. It is dead! Not much of value is left in it for you—which is one reason it causes inflammation.
One other point about 100% whole wheat flour is that the ingredients that we need to digest it are included in the wheat. When those ingredients have been removed to make our flour white, it means that your body must actually take nutrients FROM your body in order to digest things made with white flour. Therefore, in the strict sense of the word, white flour products cannot really be considered food because they deplete our bodies of necessary nutrients.
We sincerely hope that these tips that have helped so many others will be equally beneficial to our readers. We are grateful for the feedback that we get from you. We hope that those of you who try these hints will let us know your progress. We are publishing them because we hope the information will be of benefit and love to hear from you when it is.
